For a Better Future
To prepare our communities for the future, we have to invest in our public schools again. Indiana is 36th in the nation for teacher pay. We cannot incentivize teachers to stay in Indiana until we start treating them like the professionals they are. As a mom to a seven year old who had to do elearning at home while I worked from home during the early months of the covid-19 shutdown, I gained an even greater appreciation for the tough jobs that teachers do on a daily basis. We need to increase funding for public schools, expand free lunch and free breakfast programs, and hold charter schools to the same standards that we hold public schools.
